What is Twin Plant Strategy?

Our clients will ask us if Greco Apparel utilizes a twin plant strategy so we wanted to record a short video to explain when we utilize a twin plant strategy to manufacture clients garments.

Twin plan strategy is another name for setting up production in two hemispheres. As an example for clients manufacturing large quantities of garments, production in both Eastern and Western hemisphere can be used.

It will most likely be cheaper to manufacture articles of clothing in Far East in countries such as Banghladesh, India, and China then in the United States. The challenge for producing garments in Far East, is that re-orders can take 4-6 months lead time. Twin plant has factories in Western hemisphere keep raw materials on hand.

This way the bulk of production can be at cheaper prices in Far East, then re-orders with quicker turn time at slightly higher prices can be manufactured in Western Hemisphere.

What is Cut, Make and Trim?

Our clients will ask us if we offer cut, make and trim prices so we wanted to record a short video to explain the difference between “cut, make and trim” as opposed to “full package.”

In the apparel industry, “make” is used interchangeably as sew.” Cut, Make and Trim refers to the three core components of manufacturing apparel.

1) Cut garments according to patterns

2) Make/Sew garments in factory production line

3) Trim are the pieces that get sewed together to make the garment along with the fabric.

When quoting the price of garments and agreeing how client and manufacturer will do business together, it is important to establish who is supplying which items. There may be cases where manufacturer buys trim on behalf of client.

Some items the client may wish to supply for Intellectual Property rights such as a logo button.

What is Full Package?

Our clients will ask us if Greco Apparel can supply full package so we wanted to record a short video to explain our our capabilities to deliver full package if our clients prefer us to purchase fabric.

Full package in contracting business is that contractor is supplying all parts, so purchasing full product rather than only pieces of the manufacturing process. Shipping may or may not be included.

FOB – means “Free On Board.” This could be FOB Factory or FOB client’s warehouse for example. In short, this determines where person pays freight from. If price quote is FOB factory, client would be responsible for paying freight from factory.

DDP- Deliver Duty Paid

When prices are quoted using DDP it is important to consider container loading situation as well as the location of receiving situation for client.
