What is Grading?

Our clients often ask us about if Greco Apparel is involved with grading so we wanted to record a short video to explain our thoughts on this step in apparel production.

Grading is making different sizes from a base size, which means you can grade up or down. There are certain grade rules that pattern makers use when constructing garments because there are body types that need to be accounted for as people will be wearing these articles of clothing.

As an example, Man’s waist might grow in 1 inch increments, while thigh measurements may grow in 1/2 increments. Also very important to allow for seam allowance when parts of garment are sewn together, so finished garment is size you are expecting when put on clothes.
